Retirement Planning

Planning for retirement has become a very important and crucial aspect in a person’s life.  After retirement, people are living longer lives, but with less defined benefit pension plans.  The rising cost of health care has also taken its toll on a person financially.  The fact remains that, as we get older, planning for your future early in life can have significant benefits and becomes an important decision that should be taken seriously into consideration.

There are many things should be taken into consideration when planning your retirement.  Knowing what you want and what you need is one of the important factors to determine.  Part of the process is preparing a plan to act upon and achieve.  Part of the process also includes reviewing and revising your retirement plan as the years towards the day approaches.

Below are some important questions to ask yourself when planning towards your retirement:

  • When am I planning to retire?
  • Do I plan to start a part-time job during my retirement?
  • How long will my financial income last after I retire?
  • How much will it cost to support my famiy?
  • How do I picture my lifestyle to be during my retirement?
  • Where do I intend to live once I retire?

The sooner you begin to plan and begin to plan for your retirement the more prepared you will be for your future.  If you begin by investing a small amount each year, you can potentially build a portfolio that will be large enough for your needs throughout the years of your retirement.
